Mobile Photography Tips

A great photographer can make beautiful photos using any device capable of capturing images. Want to take better photos with your smartphone? Great!

1. Keep Your Phone In Your Hand

A good moment is so easy to lose. There can be no excuses such as, “Oh, my phone is somewhere in my bag,” because we are talking about MOBILE photography. Your phone should always in hand.

2. Don’t Think Twice, Take Pictures Whenever You Want!

If you doubt whether to take a picture or not — take it! Some moments will not be repeated. If you don’t like your picture you can always delete it. Don’t overthink and hesitate because there’s nothing to lose.

3. Light Is Necessary

Let’s not forget that photography is all about using light. Even the most boring composition will be saved by the good light no matter if it’s a day or evening.

4. Learn The Technical Peculiarities

Find out the strong and weak sides of your phone. Learn how you can control the exposure, or focus on the objects better. Try manual mode.

5. Zoom? No Way!

If you want to zoom in on something, use your legs and move! Don’t forget that this is just a phone, and its opportunities are not those of a DSLR lens. Don’t take bad and blur photos with the help of ZOoom!

6. Select & Edit

Be selective! Try to choose only the best pictures and then edit those. Try to use fewer filters and more individual adjustments that you can apply. We recommend Snapseed app by Google for both Android and iOS devices.

7. Choose Different Angeles

This will make you look at the objects from a new perspective.
Also, learn to use the grid. Get down on your knees, lay down on the ground, climb a ladder, climb a tree. Use a tripod or selfie stick.

8. Don’t Stick To One Style

Do not shoot in one and the same style, or even the same exact colors. Don’t do this. Remember that versatility is great and shows your creativity. Don’t frame yourself in one genre. Be eager and don’t stop shooting. Your own unique style will develop!

9. Simplicity

Less really is more. Use empty spaces, the sky, uncolored surfaces, and focus on details. Focus on forms, structure, textures, surfaces. Light models things, try to capture that!

10. Use HDR Mode

HDR, or High Dynamic Range, is a great feature for smartphone camera apps. Simply put, it brings detail out of the darkest and lightest parts of your picture and creates a better balance of colors overall.
